Day 35 - Alice Springs

14/05/11
Packed up our camp at the creek and loaded all the boys then off to Alice Springs.

First stop the Stuarts Well Roadhouse which includes a camel farm.  Sean was able to have a ride around the yard and is looking forward to a further ride maybe in WA.  Dirk spoke with a backpacker working at the farm (german of course) and has contact details for a possible job there in future.  Dirk works on a farm at home and also at one of the largest zoos in germany.

We met Jim Cottrell who built the original resort at Kings Canyon in 1960. He explained his great collection of Police badges from all over the world after explaining he was ex NSW police.  When we saw The Roadies at Kings Canyon, they told us to make sure we drop in on Jim and ask him about his dingo Dinky so we did.  Jim was happy to get Dinky who can play the piano and sing - an extraordinary sight.  There have been many news stories about Dinky who is quiter famous in Aus and in Europe.  Sean was able to get up close and personal as well.

Then finally to Alice Springs and phones and Internet working for first time in a week. We did some shopping then found a camp 10km outside town - everyone on the lookout.

We had a big steak and salad BBQ then settled down to play cards. Andrew and Dirk began talking with some German chicks and they ended up playing cards with us - we had a laugh.
