Sun is shining this morning which is a blessing. Left Pimba and back to Woomera to have a look around. Driving around the outskirts noticed a truck wash and asked at the Civil Engineering office if we could use it – they said OK so spent 1.5hrs giving the van and car a good hose down getting rid of most of the mud from the day before. I was expecting a charge for the use but all he said was clean up afterwards which we did.
Then stopped in a park and had some lunch and catch up on some blogging. Checked out some of the local sites in Woomera. Very interesting, specially the space stuff. It's a very neat little town created with government money. The lady in the local store says she fears it will be dead in a short time unless they can attract more tourists.
Then on the road north again. Stopped to have a look at a couple of the many lakes around this area on the way. It appears they are shallow and salty similar to Lake Eyre and we get the impression we are fortunate to see them with water in. They certainly look picturesque though Sean and I had a paddle in one and got very muddy again.
Got as far as 120km up the road to Glendambo and decided we would stay there for the night in the local caravan park. Got chatting to our neighbor at the park and it turns out he, Ted, drove bulk flour tankers for Bunge out of Ballarat for 20 years – se we had a good yarn about all things flour for a while.
We will continue north tomorrow and maybe make it to Coober Pedy yet.
