Up this morning and off for a day at the rock leaving doggy in the van for the day. After paying our $50 to get in we went to the Cultural Centre to have a look around before setting off on the 9km base walk.
Sean and I spoke about the issue of climbing the rock and we'd agreed we wouldn't do it. Sean raced ahead of us on the walk and by the time we arrived at the entry point for the climb we find that Sean is already half way up. So we wait for 1.5hrs while he completes the whole thing. While he is still up there the climb is closed due to high winds. We were a little concerned however pleased to see that another man was vlimbing down with him.
After he returned we expressed our displeasure which didn't seem to dampen his enthusiasm which remained high eveb after finishing the remainder of the vase walk. This is obviously a very special place for the locals and feels like it. We enjoyed the walk however were tuckered out by the time we made it back yo the car.
On our way back towards Ayers Rock Resort we see these 2 guys walking along about 6km out. We stopped adn enquired to find the were walking back to the resort. We said hop in and they introduced themselves - Andrew and Dirk, German boys from a town near Cologne who've known each other since primmary school. Had a lovely chat on the way nack and discovered that they were wishing to go to the Olgas next day. As this was our intention we invited them along with us and made arrangements to pick them up in the morning. Then on the way back went to the sunset viewing spot - a great sight to see the rock go to sleep.
Then back to camp for another night with the mice - they are everywhere - we've had one in the car for the last couple of days and still trying to flush him out.
