Day 31 - The Olgas

10/05/11

Up early today and off on 80km trip into Ayers Rock Resort to pick up our German boys then 40km drive out to the Olgas.  Very impressive site on approach to this huge collection of mini mountains mixed with pockets of forest and greenery - truly a unique place.

We did the 7km Valley of the Winds walk and enjoyed it immensley.  Sean, Andrew and Dirk went on ahead and were obviously getting along very well with Sean asking many questions and the boys practising their english.

At one point in the walk we spotted them through the bush and waved - as we caught up we realised they had ventured off the track.  Just then a tour came throiugh from the other direction and the tour guide chastised them for leaving the track - they didn't stray from then on.

Had some lunch when we finished then back to Ayers Rock Resort to drop off the boys.  On the way we offered for them to stick with us until we reached Alice Springs - they are booked on the Ghan on Monday 16th.  They agreed and we made plans to pick them up next morning then back to our camp for the night.

:-) Big greetings from Dirks sister. Good to know someone took care of my little brother. The boys really enjoyed traveling with you. Have a nice and save trip full of adventures. Australia is such a beautiful country to discover.
