Day 21 - South Lake Eyre

30/04/11

Time to have a good look at these sculptures – someone’s got a lot of time, some junk and a fair bit of talent.

While getting breakfast we had a visitor – not sure of pure dingo or not but impressive looking animal.

Packed up and 40km up the road to Lake Eyre South – we made it to one of the spots we really wanted to see –a bit windy on the way

Can’t believe that we were sitting at home less than 6 months ago planning this trip – now we are here and its got water!  Had to get down and have a paddle and maybe a swim.  Got really muddy and salty but its worth it.

Ran into a couple who had just come from Lake Eyre North where they said it was receding leaving stinking slime and lots of dead fish.  Once again we are blessed in seeing this unique spot at its best.

Had to have a clean up and a rest after that.

Had a steady flow of visitors during the afternoon – surprising how many travelling the roads – it is the end of the SA school holidays this weekend so many would be on their way home,

We decided we must stay here the night and witness a sunset over the lake.
