Day 101 - Lake Argyle

19/07/11

After packing up at the free camp we're heading west again - more wonderful Boab tree before finally crossing the border to WA.  We'd heard many stories about how strict things were here regards fruit and veggies so we ensured we had none and breezed through OK.

We turned off to Lake Argyle - this amazing place is the result of the Ord River Scheme and covers 5000M2 - six times the size of Syd Harbour and the largest body of fresh water in Oz! On the way in we crossed over Spillway Creek which was running some serious rapids and had plenty of sun baking residents about.

The caravan park sits alongside the lake and has a beautiful swimming pool (very cold still) which has a submerged edge and overlooks the lake.

After we got settled in I took Sean down past the dam wall for a spot of fishing - we only caught a few small catfish but had fun doing it and the views are spectacular.

After dinner went to check out the local entertainment - a lone singer with her own backup tapes - sang a lot of old favourites and Sean in particular enjoyed the show.
