Today we finally made it to Kakadu. First stop was Mary River - had a squiz although the main billabongs from here were still closed due to the big wet season - including a very interesting 40km trek along Hardies Track - maybe next time.
Next we visited Bark Hut Rest stop which can only be described as the capital of stuffed things.
Then a littel further down the road we make it finally to the beginning of Kakadu.
Our first stop inside the national park is Yellow River - a spot where there are cruises down the river however we visited the boardwalk and wildlife viewing area where we met one of the locals, a water pthon hanging out in the viewing area
Found this place very lovely witht he water lilies covering much of the billabong and thousands of birds as well as a freindly croc.
Made it to Jabiru and stopped to fuel up then turned south and found a campsite at Mardugal. It cost $10 per head to stay there however when Jude went to pay the ranger she happened to mention it was my birthday and we got it for half price. Another great billabong just behind our camp and another lovely sunset
We had a fire there and Jude made some chicken rissoles which we cooked over the open fire.
