Day 69 - Hidden Valley Racing Day One

17/06/11

Today I went to the races - turned up at briefing at 7am after an uncertain wander to find where I had to go having never been to the track.

I ended up at trun one at the end of pit straight.  Turned out to be uite good as cars would often come into the corner too hot and end up off onto the grass.

We had 7 people on the point for today including Dave our senior, Vicki our comms, Azam our Singaporian senior, and flag marshals Digger, Mick, Jess and myself.  All were expereinced except for 24yo Jess and I ended up paired up with her for the day showing her the ropes.

It was a relatively quiet day with all practice sesssions for the various categories which included Improved Production/Commodore Cup, Touring Car Masters, Formula 3 and V8 Utes as well as the V8Spuercars.  We had many cars spinning off onto the grass and resuming so kept us busy.  We rotated through jobs during the day and I got a stint on comms.

Jude and Sean spent their day catching up with cousin Leonie and her son Jacob who flew into Darwin from Brisbane the pervious night.
