Day 58 - North Again

06/05/11

Packed up at Juno Horse Centre and left for the north.  Tempted to stay another night but decided we'd better get moving.

Just north of Tennant Creek is The Threeways - the main intersection north to Darwin and east to QLD border. The 3ways roadhouse has a room dedicated to truckies - with the walls covered in pictures as well as memorials to those who've died on the roads.

Next along the way is the Flynn Memorial - this bloke had a huge influence everywhere throughout the outback - he had a hand in many things which made life better and safer for everyone who chose to live in this harsh environment..

Next a tiny spot called Reiner Springs - start to see a lot of places called "springs" from now on - turns out there is a great deal of underground water round these parts.  As is the custom around here the bar area is covered with as much paraphernalia as possible.

Then passing through a very small place called Elliot - very run down and rather sad looking place.

Finally just north of here we stopped at a parking free camp just of the road at Newcastle Waters.  Sat and chatted with Sharon and Greg from Echuca then dinner and of to bed.
