Today is our first day of exploring in Darwin - there is certainly a lot to do and see here. First stop Ceocosaurus Cave which is situauterd right in among the shops and office buidlings in the city. Turned out that today the V8Supercar drivers were visiting as well.
Just after entering we came across the main fish feeding tank - a large freshwater tank with various species - all from northern Australian waters. Apart from the impressive large barramundi, it was surprising to see the rays that thrive in the rivers up here. In particular the sawfish which we were told can grow up to 7m in length.
Next a clever display housing a couple of hundred juvenile crocs on a raised platform. By walking underneath the platform people could put their head into the plastic domes and have a croc's eye view.
Next off to see the big boys being fed. Harry here put on a good show for us as Fabian Coulthard and Tony D'Alberto were introduced to teh crowd and given a piece of meat to feed Harry. Intersting that they only feed them with small slivers of meat each time adding up to no more that 2.5kg per week. Otherwise they would become overweight and would not want to eat.
Then off to another tank where Charlie was fed while Fabian Coulthard was in the "Cage of Death".
Then Sean was able to fish for a croc in this special tank full of 2 year olfd juveniles - he had fun doing it and wanted to stay for more.
Next off to the Reptile House first to see this green tree snake being fed a rat while the keepers describe the process - very interesting.
Then had a look around the rest of the reptiles - Sean has taken a liming to them. Included these goannas that got into an argunment over food.
After leaving the crocs, it was off to Minindi Markets which are on every Thursday night at a picturesque sopt down by the beach. An amazing array of wares and of course another spectacular Darwin sunset.
