Day 125 - Eastward Bound

12/08/11

Left Halls Creek this morning then 110km down the road to the Bungle Bunglle National Park (also known as Purnululu) - we made it there at 10am.  Went to check it out with the intention of staying and going for a look at the Bungles.  Found that we were too late to start the trip as it was 53km to the park gate which we were told would take at least 2hrs over rough road then a further 100km of trekking around the park.  We were told that if we stayed there we could go on a one day tour for $285 per person plus our site cost $50 or we could go on a flight for $250 per person.  Another tempting offer was to stay in the tent like huts for #295 per person per night!

We decided the Bungles would have to wait for another day and pushed on another 200km to Kununurra.   Passed some horses along the way as well as 3 dead roos and a freshly hit cow along this very flat very straight road - we travelled carefully.

Went to the Kununurra showgrounds to stop for the night - turns out thsi is a great spot that caters for pets - wondered why we hadn't tried this one on our previous visit here.
