Had a look around Cloncurry today - this sign on the way into town boasts of the hottest day on record in Australia - 53C which happened in 1888 - glad we weren't here then.
Next off to the airport where QANTAS looms large again - apparently the saying goes that QANTAS was conceived in Winton, born in Cloncurry and grew up in Longreach - I think its just each one trying to grab their bit of fame. Anyway Cloncurry take their piece because the first commercial flight was from Charleville to Cloncurry.
Next just back out of town a bit checked out the Chinaman Creek Dam - built as the water supply for the town and now a place of entertainment for the population.
Then a cruise around town to see some of the local buildings -some in better shape than others.
